SILENCE AND CENTERING (2 MINUTES)
Psalm 46:10 (NLT)
“Be still, and know that I am God I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
Merciful God, we have done a lot of running this week, but much of it was not in Your direction. We have run in circles because we did not pause to ask Your guidance. We have run in loneliness because we did not run in love for others. We have tripped because the cares of this world captured our attention. We have run with great fatigue because we moved by our own power. Through Your Holy Spirit, show us those things that keep us from running the race marked out for us. Forgive us, Lord. Nourish and instruct us, that we may run in the path of Your commands, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the One who calls us by His Name and claims us by His love. Amen.
9 O fear the Lord, you his holy ones, for those who fear him have no want. 10 The young lions suffer want and hunger, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. 11 Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. 12 Which of you desires life, and covets many days to enjoy good? 13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. 14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
O God, You who holds all things together, and the nations in
Your hand; You who in Your sovereignty has placed me here, in Plainfield, at
this time in history; whose plans and ways are perfect – I submit to You. Your
will is that none should perish, but that all should come to repentance, and in
accordance with Your will, I ask that this would be so among us.
May we, the church called FCC, grow through new converts. May the Gospel be presented
to the lost among us with power, the Holy Spirit and deep conviction, not only
through words, but by our very lives. Teach us to make the most of every
opportunity that we might constantly spread everywhere the fragrance of
Christ. And allow us, I pray, allow me, to be part of end-time harvest, that
Jesus, the Lamb, might receive the reward for His suffering. I ask all of this in
His mighty name. Amen (Colossians 1:17; Isaiah 46:11; James 4:7; 2 Peter 3:9;
Acts 2:47; 1 Thessalonians 1:5; Colossians 4:5; 2 Corinthians 2:15)
15 Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, 16 making the most of the time, because the days are evil. 17 So do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts, 20 giving thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings.
