Psalm 46:10 (NLT)

“Be still, and know that I am God  I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”

God of All Peace, Your Word says: “In repentance and rest is our salvation, in quietness and trust is our strength.” And yet, there are many days when we are too self-protective to repent, too self-important to rest, too worried to be quiet, too wounded to trust. We demand peace in the world, but allow chaos to govern our souls. In Christ, forgive us; call us to return to You and to find in Your presence a peace that surpasses all understanding, through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Zephaniah 3:14-20

14 Sing aloud, O daughter Zion; shout, O Israel! Rejoice and exult with all your heart, O daughter Jerusalem! 15 The Lord has taken away the judgments against you, he has turned away your enemies. The king of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; you shall fear disaster no more. 16 On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: Do not fear, O Zion; do not let your hands grow weak. 17 The Lord, your God, is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will renew you in his love; he will exult over you with loud singing 18 as on a day of festival. I will remove disaster from you, so that you will not bear reproach for it. 19 I will deal with all your oppressors at that time. And I will save the lame and gather the outcast, and I will change their shame into praise and renown in all the earth. 20 At that time I will bring you home, at the time when I gather you; for I will make you renowned and praised among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes, says the Lord.

Let us pray for the whole Church of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs.

Brief silence

Holy God, who prepared the way of our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, by the ministry of John, prepare our hearts by repentant faith for Christ’s glorious return, joyfully receiving the forgiveness of sins and serving You in willing obedience. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, we give thanks for the unity of faith that makes Your Church one mystical Body of Christ and for the partnership in the Gospel we share with fellow congregations in the earthly fellowship of our Synod. Keep us steadfast in Your Word of truth and the Good News of life and salvation. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, our King, whose eyes watch over the nations, we pray for those who rule and govern Your people in this and every land. Make them faithful in their vocations as rulers and as Your servants for justice. Grant Your protection to those who serve in the military, and grant Your Spirit to guide those who minister to them, proclaiming Your Word of life and salvation. Lead each of us faithfully to serve You by fulfilling our daily vocations and duties in our homes, at work and school, in Your Church and as citizens. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Almighty God and Father, Your Son revealed His love in His compassion toward the poor and the forgotten, the despised and the lowly. Look with mercy on those who have no work and cannot provide for themselves and their families. Let them find gainful employment so that they can rejoice over the fruits of their labor. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Almighty God and Father, You healed the sick and defeated death by the resurrection of Your Son, our Lord. According to Your gracious will, heal the sick and comfort the suffering [especially _______________]. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Almighty God and Father, fill us with Your Spirit that our love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, that discerning what is best we may be pure and blameless until the day of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord Jesus, as You gave Yourself for the forgiveness of sins, grant that we may receive Your body and blood with sincere faith in Your Word and promises, so that we commune with glad confidence for our soul’s well-being. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Father, into Your hands we commend all for whom we pray, through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Philippians 4:4-7

4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Pray The Our Father – Slowly

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy Name,

thy kingdom come,

thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those

who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory,

for ever and ever. Amen.
