2 Minutes of Silence and Centering     – Pause for Silence

“Be still, and know that I am God; – Psalm 46:10

Confession: O Good and Loving God, You call us to honor, love, and revere not just our parents, but all whom You have placed in our lives with Your authority. Yet we; rarely give honor to those deserving of honor. Instead, we fight and fail to love as You have loved us. When we have authority, we misuse and abuse it. Worst, we reject Your authority and seek to live our lives our way. We follow ourselves, not Your Son, Jesus. Forgive us and renew us. Send us Your grace and mercy, and enable us to share it with others, even with those in authority over us. Through Christ we pray. Amen.

Scripture Reading:

Mark 1:9-15
1:9 In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

1:10 And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit descending like a dove on him.

1:11 And a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.”

1:12 And the Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness.

1:13 He was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels waited on him.

1:14 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God,

1:15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news.”

The Our Father (slowly pray this)
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever, Amen.
