Soul Care Aug.15-21

Soul Care When You are an Introvert with the Spiritual Gift of Service - Pastor Brian Moss

Scripture: casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. – 1 Peter 5:7-8

Insight: Cast is not a word we often use in modern English so we may not have been familiar with the terminology, but the image could not be clearer. In our passage, Peter calls us to throw or put our anxieties on [God] because He cares for us. The image that comes to mind is carrying a lot of weight on our own but then casting it onto a cart so that it can do the heavy lifting. God has asked us to allow Him to carry our burdens; we do not need to shoulder on our own the things that scare us, the things that worry us. He wants to take part in our efforts to know Him. But, why? Verse 7 says “because he cares for you”. God cares for us and it is because of this deep care that He says “let me take your concerns for you, I can take it”.

Reflection: Am I trusting in the God who is big enough to sweep away my fears, and take on the issues of life?

Prayer: Powerful God, I believe that I can approach you with my concerns, and that you are willing to take them and carry me through them. Please help me when I struggle to trust you. This week, please show me how great you are and how much you care. I trust that the God who put the stars in the heavens knows my name and will walk with me through life’s struggles. Thank you, God, for sending your son so that I could have this kind of relationship with you. Amen.

Worship: Meditate in the Presence of God with this Worship Song and Give him thanks & praise.
